HiSET Math Class (Machias- Tuesday)

Free

with George McBride

Feb 14, 2017 at 10 am, runs for 20 weeks

Math can be a dreaded subject for many, but it is included on the HiSET because mathematical skills are a major component to success whether you are looking for a better job or want to go to college. Most colleges and universities include at least one mathematics course as part of its general education requirements in almost any degree you can think of pursuing and some degree programs like engineering and pre-med are extremely math-heavy.  Even if you don’t plan on going into a field where math is heavily used, there are still some fundamental mathematic concepts you will need to carry with you into the professional world.

In this class, you will develop skills that can lead to completing the HiSET exam to receive your high school credentials. Instruction focuses on Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry. You will build foundational math skills to find success in the workplace, refresh skills after a long time away from school, and prepare to take the HiSET Math test.

Sep 14, 2017 at 5:30 pm, runs for 1 week

You hone your writing into a masterpiece, and now it's ready to send out to the world.

• Where will you send it? How do you select the best places to present your work from thousands of literary markets?

• What do you need to know about copyright?

• How do you write a bio? A cover letter?

• What are the best tools to manage submissions?

• How do you market yourself as a writer?

Through discussion, examples, and handouts to take home, participants in this workshop will gain the knowledge and skills to manage their written work and more effectively navigate the publishing world.
